Connect the device with the supplied USB connector and install your FoneDog Recovery Software (both Mac and Windows computers are supported, so don't worry about which device you have). This will then pick up your connected iOS device.
Remember to shut down iTunes to avoid automatic synchronization.
You'll be able to see from the recovery software that there is an array of data that can be recovered from messages and contacts to application data such as WhatsApp and messenger information.
You can also recover your lost photographs, voicemail, videos or even documents after they have been lost.
The easiest way to go about recovering everything is simply select the checkbox stating “Select All” and click the “Start Scan” button.
There will be quite a lot of data shown on the window once scanning is completed, which can be filtered by selecting the option to only show deleted items, or filtered by file type within the window.
Once you have narrowed down exactly what you want to keep, click the “Recover” button at the bottom of the screen to recover the data to either the iOS device or the computer connected.
Launch the FoneDog recovery software on your computer and select “Recover from iTunes Backup file”. This will then find all the available iTunes backup files stored on your system and list them accordingly. Select the appropriate file from this list.
Once you have selected the backup you want to use, simply click “Start Scan” and let the software extract the available data. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of the backup.
Same as before, the data will show up in the recovery window in three categories, with subcategories for different types of this data. Select what you would like recovered and click the appropriate recovery button.
If you connect your iOS device to the computer, you can recover contacts and messages directly to your device.
Select “Recover data from iCloud backup files”. This will then prompt you to enter your iCloud account name and password, so be sure to have these handy. (This information will not be recorded and is used securely only for the purposes of recovering the data.
Once the data has been scanned, you can again select the data you wish to have recovered to your device, and again select the appropriate recovery button.
Note: Only contacts, messages and notes can be recovered directly to your iOS device. Other types will have to be recovered to your computer/mac.
After launching FoneDog, go to iOS System Recovery.
Connect your device using a USB cable and wait for the FoneDog to detect your device automatically.
If your device has been recognized, click on the start button. Once you click the start button, FoneDog will present to you the firmware that needs to be downloaded, you need to download it.
Downloading may take some minutes, but once it is completed FoneDog will start repairing your device and you have nothing to worry about.
