MI Cloud Backup & Restore as its name suggests provides backing up your phone’s data and restoring it when needed.
You can backup and restore:

- Messages
- Gallery
- Notes
- Recordings
- And Even Find your Device
It works similarly like those cloud platforms you may have used before. All you need is to enable this feature on your Mi Smartphones and you are good to go. Here is how to set a backup:
- Sign up for a Mi account on your RedMi Note 5 Pro by going to Settings and tapping the Mi account. Tap Create an account and follow the onscreen prompts.
- Once you have created a Mi account go back to this setting and sign in.
- Under the MI Cloud, go to Sync Device and toggle it on. You can also view and sign in to your Mi Account on your desktop.
- After turning on the Sync option, turn on other items you can sync such as contacts, messages, gallery, and more. Once done, tap Backup Device and turn it on
- Open your Messages app
- Tap the menu button and find Sync Messages to Mi Cloud
- Select the messages you want to sync and backup

However, the only downside of using the Mi cloud is that it does not allow you to recover or download the synced messages as of this time. It only supports viewing and deleting even on its browser option. Currently, the Mi cloud only supports exporting contacts only.
