Part IV: Battery Draining Too Fast

Battery life is also dependent on the usage of your iPhone XS Max. That’s why it’s hard to know which exact app or usage pattern is causing the said draining problem. In this part, we will be telling you the different ways you can do to fix the problem.

Installing Latest iOS Software Update

You can install the latest software update for iOS by doing the following:

Step 01 - Go to Settings.

Step 02 - Go to General.

Step 03 - Go to Software Update.

Simply download and install the latest software update available through the steps above.

Identifying Applications That Lead To Battery Drains

The new iOS version 12 allows you to identify which applications are taking up too much of your battery. You can check the internet on how to do this. There are pretty much a lot of guides that tell you how to do it.

So, what’s next after identifying these apps? Well, below might be some things you can actually implement in order to save more of your battery life. This is true especially if these battery hungry apps are third-party ones:

* Can you work or live without having the app on your iPhone? Well, it’s best to delete the said applications.

* There are some apps that still work on the background to get some content off of your network. You might wish to force these apps to shut off like that of navigation apps, VoIP, streaming audio, and other apps that consume much of your battery life.

Take note that you should only force close those applications that you might not need. If you force close every app out there, it might cause a negative impact and actually lead to the draining of your battery life. In order to force close a particular application, swipe up from that of the Home indicator.

After which, stop when seeing the animation that comes up. After then, you can lift one of your fingers for which you’ll be able to check out all the applications within a list (the horizontal one). Tap one of these cards and hold this tap for a while. A red (-) button will show up. This is located within the corner (top left) of the app card. Now, you can simply force quit the app.

* What if you wish to utilize the app? Well, you have to consider the fact that you can disable Location Services and that of Background Application Refresh. The former can be found in Settings, and then Privacy, and then Location Services. The latter can be found in Settings, then General, and then Background App Refresh.

Deactivating Location Services

When you install a particular application, they will ask you if you want to give them (the application) access to a lot of things including location. Most people will gladly say yes to these just to use the app.

However, when an app utilizes location services, it can really take up much of your battery life. That’s why it’s best to check out which applications could have the said access to location services.

The best method of doing this is to deactivate location services for each and every app out there. You can do this by going to Settings. After which, going to Privacy, and then Location Services.

After the location services have been deactivated for all applications, you can identify which of the apps really need access to your location. You can simply activate them individually.

Utilizing Mode For Low Power

Running a little low on your battery life? Well, what you can do is to enable the mode called Low Power. You can do this by going to Settings. After which, going to Battery. Then, press the toggle that goes for Low Power.

This mode reduces the amount of power consumption temporarily. This is done by turning off or even reducing background application refresh, mail fetch, visual effects, and automatic downloads. According to Apple, this mode allows you to enhance the life of your battery by about 3 hours more.

Low Power mode is also prompted to you when your battery life is 20% and below. Plus, it is automatically disabled by your device when the battery is about 80% and above when it comes to battery life.

Placing Your iPhone Face Down

iOS has a feature that detects when the iPhone is faced down. This utilizes a light sensor that makes sure the iPhone or its display doesn’t actually light up when a notification is received during the times when your iPhone is placed with the face down.

The said feature in combination with different refinements can help your iPhone increase the life of its battery by an hour more. With this feature, the display is turned off especially when it is not being used.

That’s why when you have an iPhone, it is best to place it on a surface with the face down in order to conserve the life of your battery.

Deactivating The Feature Raise To Wake

This feature called Raise To Wake was introduced by Apple in iOS version 10. With this feature, your iPhone’s screen will turn on automatically when you pick it up and it its face is “facing” to you.

This is useful especially if you just want to check your phones without having to press the Home button. You can just pick your iPhone up and you instantly check your notifications.

Very useful right? However, this can lead to the draining of the life of your battery especially when you are jogging, walking, dancing, or doing any type of movement. This is because the said feature will be activated automatically at multiple times.

Thus, you have to turn this feature off in order to save more battery on your phone. Do this by following the steps below:

Step 01 - Go to Settings.

Step 02 - Go to Display & Brightness.

Step 03 - Go to Raise To Wake.

Step 04 - Toggle it off.

Now that you have deactivated this Raise To Wake Feature, the iPhone will not turn itself on automatically with a simple upward motion.

Deactivate the Raise to Wake Feature

Part V: iPhone XS Max Is Actually Not Charging

One of the problems faced by people who use an iPhone XS Max (and even an iPhone XS) is that the iPhones do not automatically charge when it is plugged into a particular power source. This is an issue with that of the iOS version 12.

Fortunately, Apple is very much aware of the said problem. They have already fixed it in iOS version 12.0.1. So, what’s the way to fix this? Well, it’s easy. You simply have to install the said version (iOS 12.0.1) or higher and then you’re ready to charge your iPhone XS Max again.

Part VI: Conclusion
