Part 3. How to Repair Broken Screen – DIY Tutorial

If you want to save time and money then you need to exert effort on how to fix the broken Samsung phone. Below are the Do-It-Yourself steps but first, make sure you are well-prepared.

Tools to Use:

  • Heat gun
  • Metal Spudger
  • Opening tools
  • Picks (guitar picks can also do)
  • Spudger
  • Safety goggles
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Loca glue
  1. Remove the back cover and take out all cables plugged in, take out the battery and the SIM card. You can use a spudger or your fingernails to remove everything out.
  2. Using a heat gun, heat up the front screen with the breakage for about 6 minutes. Do not use a hair dryer because it cannot heat up enough to soften the phone screen. Check from time to time the adhesive that holds the screen together; make sure that it is not overheated. If any discoloration starts, stop and turn off the heat gun.
  3. Start separating the screen by using a spudger. Begin to remove from the edges starting from the top.
  4. Use a plastic pick to remove the screen. Be careful not to damage the digitizer. If your screen cracks almost like spider webs then use a packing tape over the screen so they will stick on it. Consider using safety glasses since the screen may break or shatter in front of you.
  5. If needed, re-heat the screen using the heat gun and repeat the steps until you got the entire screen out.
  6. When the screen is completely removed, wipe the digitizer using a microfiber cloth. Remove the entire residue carefully. Take time to do so.
  7. Place the new adhesive on top and carefully peel off the blue sticker.
  8. Prepare the new glass screen; make sure there are no fingerprints or dust on the inner side. Place it on top of the phone and use Loca glue. Let it sit for a while until dry.
  9. Once the phone is dried out completely, peel off the outer plastic of the glass and insert everything back including the SIM card, battery, and the back cover.
  10. Power on the phone.

That’s it! You have just repaired a broken screen phone!

However, this process should be done with expertise. If you are not confident enough to fix the broken screen, then it is better to bring it to a repair center.
